How it all started

Before building work begins on our museum store

The Dacorum Museum Advisory Committee was created in 1979 to advise the then Dacorum District Council on heritage matters. It formed the foundations for The Dacorum Heritage Trust’s current activities, particularly in the areas of education, exhibitions, publications and outreach. The Dacorum Heritage Trust was founded in September 1993.  The Museum Store in Berkhamsted is situated in the old fire station buildings, which were specially converted in 1994. This is where, to this day, all the artefacts are housed, catalogued and conserved.
