A gold Roman finger ring, of Henig Type XIII, missing its setting, dating to the third century AD.

This ring was discovered by a metal detectorist in Flamstead in 2021. Declared as treasure under the Treasure Act, Dacorum Heritage is delighted to have been able to purchase this ring for the collection.

This ring is of the Henig Type XIII.

The bezel is oval and set above the hoop. The edges flare from the base to a rim and the upper edge is bevelled. The interior of the bezel is empty, missing the gemstone. A ridge extends around the circumference of the interior and the base of the bezel is flat. The interior and external surfaces of the bezel are undecorated.

The hoop of the ring is D-shape in cross section and relatively even around its length. The shoulders are slightly wider closer to the bezel. The surfaces are undecorated.

The ring has had a new box, with a purpose made plastazote foam cushion, to help keep the ring safe.
